Alepaca Launches Clean Water Initiative Across 50 Communities

Our Clean Water Initiative represents one of the most ambitious projects Alepaca Investment Limited has undertaken. With the support of our generous donors and partners, we are bringing clean, safe drinking water to communities that have struggled with water-borne diseases and limited access to potable water for decades.

The Challenge

In the Eastern Region, over 60% of rural communities lack access to clean drinking water. Women and children often walk several kilometers daily to fetch water from contaminated sources, leading to widespread health issues and lost educational opportunities.

Our Approach

We employ a multi-faceted approach that includes:

Borehole Drilling: Using modern drilling technology to access deep, clean aquifers

Water Purification Systems: Installing community-scale purification units

Community Education: Training local water committees on maintenance and hygiene

Sustainability Planning: Ensuring long-term viability through community ownership models

Impact So Far

Since launching in January 2024, we have:

Drilled 35 boreholes across 42 communities

Provided clean water access to over 12,500 people

Reduced water-borne disease incidents by 70% in served communities

Trained 84 community water committee members

Looking Ahead

Phase 2 of the initiative will expand to 20 additional communities by mid-2025. We are actively seeking donors and partners to help us reach our goal of serving 100 communities by 2026.

Your support makes this possible. Every dollar donated goes directly to building water infrastructure and training communities.
