Over 500 smallholder farmers have been organised into cooperative clubs across Lilongwe, gaining access to training, inputs, and collective marketing support through Alepaca Investment Limited.
Alepaca Investment Limited has successfully mobilised over 500 smallholder farmers into structured cooperative clubs across Lilongwe district as part of its flagship Farmer Clubs and Cooperative Development programme.
The farmer clubs provide a structured platform for collective action — enabling members to access quality agricultural inputs, share knowledge on climate-smart farming practices, and engage in collective marketing to increase their bargaining power.
"When farmers work together, they achieve more. These clubs are not just about farming — they are about building community resilience and economic independence," said Maggie Nundwe, Programme Manager.
Alepaca Investment Limited plans to expand the programme to additional districts across Malawi, with a target of organising 5,000 farmers by 2030.
